hey, i was wondering why the terrain park was moved to the drop zone? it's the steepest part of the hill and even though it's terrain skiers still bomb it making it hazardous to the riders actually doing the park

I think you should have pictures of the park features that you have out. That way I know if I want to come and ride your park!

Rumor has it the Joel Bryan, Nick Dell, and Ryan Goodson cut two new beautiful jumps last night till about 10:00 PM.

I hear that the landing is the most perfect landing you have ever seen in central Iowa.

I also heard that one of the Jumps is super mellow with a clean low 10foot gap - its a floater. I heard that Nick and Ryan hit the jump last night after building it.

I n addition I heard that there is a big guns jump right next to the little one mentioned above. I hear that this big jump has a 23 foot gap and a 5 foot tall take off. The landing on this one is just as beautiful as the landing on the small jump.

It is certainly worth the trip out to seven oaks - These jumps are the best Central IA has Ever seen!

As for moving the park to Drop Zone - I had reservations about that as well - however the hill is used very well. I do believe that it is the best park that we ever have had. If skiers are bombing that hill, they know what they are doing. If terrain park riders are not sitting on the hill there should not be any problems on the run. The run is wider then it has been in the past and this helps out with the problem you mentioned.

I saw 1 jump to the left of the left chair lift. I think there was more, but I didn't go that way myself. I've only been there once and it's definitely worth the 45 min drive from des moines for me.

Ya not going to lie I have been twice and the terrain park placement makes hitting 3's off the jumps and grabs almost impossible, hope to see some pictures of new ramps soon!

The new jumps will allieveate all of the issues mentioned in this thread. I have heard that people have been working 180s, grabbed 3's and 5's off the small jump and some riders have alrady taken these tricks to the big jump. If you have not been out to seven oaks since Wednesday 1/7/09 - You really owe it to yourself to make the drive!

I would ask for pictures too but I know what they look like! Amazing

I skied the terrain park. the snow was great. Except just below the jump at the top, where the boarders had scraped it down to ice.

i went there last night and hit up the kickers. I had fun and was glad I went. The landings were nice and steep and the transition was smooth and mellow but Definetly not the best jumps central iowa has ever seen. 8 or 9 years ago they use to build huge tables at the bottom 10 times bigger and better. i still have pictures. there is still alot of room and need for improvement. How long have you been going there Nick?

I have been riding there for about 8 years and working there for 6 years now.

I do remember (and miss) the large table tops, but the amount of snow they take is a lot and they are not conducive to all levels of skiers and snowbaorders. The problem we have with the Tables are that the landings are relatively small for the scale of jump - you have to be precise and careful not to overjump the landing (which I did several times) Landing on the flats after 30 feet through the air is not too fun. Additionally if you jump to small and hit the top or the knuckle then you have the same issue.

The reason the new jumps are in my opinion the best weve ever seen is becasue the landing is such that you can hit the jump at different amplitudes and still hit the landing ramp - making it better for beginners and advanced riders alike. On top of that I might add the landings are really clean - a well riden hit will provide an almost effortless landing - it almost catches you out of the air.

So yes we do miss the Tables - But I feel that these are certainly the cleanest jumps we have ever seen. Not the biggest - The tables were huge but I always remember them being rather sketchy.

I measured the gaps after we built the jumps ( I think they have shrunk a bit sinc then ) at 23 feet and 10 feet to the knuckle.
If I remember correctly our old tables were in the 30 foot gap range. On the new jumps you have a safe - steep landing from the knuckle at 23 feet to the flats over 50 feet away - this makes for a nice big landing area.

Other then going back to the Tables - are there any suggestions on the current jumps?

Thanks for your opinion and input - we really appreciate it!

Nick
