Another one behind us

Another opening day is behind us and it was GOOD. A lot of winter enthusiasts were here last night and all were anxious to get on the snow. Staff was clicking right along to get all those last minute items addressed before we opened the doors and it went off like clockwork. I ran out of time to get all the snow pushed at the top of the Freeway ........so we went into grooming only. There is an incredible pile of snow at the very top of the trail. The trails open this season are the most we have ever had open on our first day.

Snow guns have been running on snowtubing and Drop zone. The bottom half of drop zone is covered and now the steep and most difficult part will be covered......and it started last night. I certainly expect by next friday the drop zone will be open with features and at least one jump. .....and of course the Cyclone Chair will also be running.... Tubing should also be open next friday.

Did you see the forecast? Nice temps this weekend and then Monday night it drops into single digits.........good snowmaking.......then for the weekend we get warm again........kinda like we ordered it......AND DON'T FORGET OUR FIRST LATE NITE IS NEXT SATURDAY.....DECEMBER 19

Got several new pieces of Seven Oaks clothing in yesterday too. Several are already sporting the new look....and the neon stuff is really bright.

Had a big box and one rail set up for last night and I actually got to witness the first rider of the season on the box and the first fall off the box as well........same person!

Met a guy last night that has the same name as our newest trail "Elwood's Hideout"......what a small world.

Riders.......at the unload of the Valley View make sure you move to the side to strap in.........don't want you to get nailed by more coming off the chair behind you.

gotta get to work.......

Why wasn't the cyclone chair lift open this weekend. Is there going to be a second rail yard on top of Vally View? Only one Ramp on drop zone next weekend? How many Rails.
See you next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you can make some snow.

the snow was great last night.
As to the snowboarders strapping in at the unload. Maybe you could push more snow off the back edge to make the landing wider.

Snow King.....cyclone wasn't open as there was no snow on the unload and going to abbys alley......just no time to get it made there......but it will be next friday night and the weekend. remember we have a late nite next saturday. I think drop zone will have several features...at least that is the plan.....yep, when you come off valley view and go right there will be some small features on willet's way.

I am going to make the unload flat at valley view wider....a little wider tonight. of course we had 100% of our customers on this chair and 100% were going left off the chair which was a contributor as well. thanks for the comment. great minds think alike!

I didn't manage to get out friday night because of work (two thumbs down.) On the other hand I was there Saturday morning. It was without a doubt the best opening day I've ever had at Seven Oaks in my three years as a pass holder. I really missed the place this summer and have a feeling the park this year is gonna Kick! Much appreciation to all the staff. Keep up the good work and try to make this not only the best opening weekend I've had, but the best season!

How are conditions and openings today (Sunday)? Thinking of coming out but there has been some melt here in Ames. Wondering if I should just wait til next weekend?

OK thanks for the update. I am planing on going next Sunday, is it usually less crowded Sunday than Saturday? How are you changing the entrance off valley view? Is the 40 footer going to be on the rail yard or Willets way? See you Sunday!!!!!!

Good Feeling.......thanks for the comments. Snow is good isn't it...we are really happy with the volume and quality so far this year. We are anxious to get 100% open.
And hey Jim, sorry I didn't check the blog til just now. We really had no appreciable melt here yesterday or tonite. Temps have continued to drop all day today...
And Finally to Snow King.....all the big stuff will be in the park. I think the plan is to have small features for riders going west off Valley View.....Joel will try to get a couple hits built for this weekend.....I am terrible at it.......
